We're delighted to announce that our project has been successful in obtaining £25,000 of funding from the Co-op Foundation #iwill fund.

The project

Our new project, Young Co-operative action, is aimed at tackling youth loneliness amongst Rochdale and Manchester's Care Leaver Community.

As part of the UK-wide #iwill campaign to get 6 out of 10 young people involved in social action by 2020, we’ve partnered with Greater Manchester Youth Network to  bring social action and co-operation together to tackle care leavers’ experiences of loneliness.

This group of young people is often cited as being particularly vulnerable, as identified in the British Red Cross/Co-op Report from 2016. This highlighted how three quarters of care leavers felt lonely or isolated when leaving care, with 43% stating that it was very difficult.

Through the project it is hoped that young people will become more engaged with their local community, whilst also building a mutually supportive social group.

Look out for more updates ahead of the launch next year!
