The aim of this two-session workshop is to support the progression of co-operative members who are interested in becoming directors in the future.

Course content

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Explore how to present themselves for election as a director 
  • Create a personal ‘elevator pitch’ to support their candidacy 
  • Consider the general roles and responsibilities of directors 
  • Identify the skills and knowledge they need to further develop to become effective as directors 
  • Examine some of the role-specific knowledge required by directors, such as governance, business strategy and financial information  
  • Address some of the additional skills and knowledge identified in session one   
  • Identify sources of further support and other available development opportunities 

Length of course

This course is delivered over two half-day sessions, each lasting three hours
