This practical workshop will give you the essential skills, knowledge and understanding of a trainer’s role when delivering to learners: from planning and preparation, teaching methods and training resources, to giving effective feedback and evaluating development activity. You do not have to be in a formal training role to attend this workshop.

Who is it for?

This workshop is for you if you...

  • are responsible for developing other people in a formal or informal capacity
  • wish to improve your understanding of how and why people learn in different ways
  • are looking for practical help with planning and delivering training for colleagues or other stakeholders
  • want to learn how to arrange successful training and development events

What will I learn?

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to...

  • define learning and describe different learning styles
  • describe the training cycle
  • explain how to identify training needs
  • list the factors to consider when preparing for a training event
  • demonstrate co-operative training delivery skills
  • explain the importance of training records
  • devise a personal action plan

How will I learn?

During this workshop you will be guided through practical models to make your training events successful. You will have opportunity to try out techniques and to discuss best practice with your expert tutor. The workshop also includes self-reflection activities to help you to think about how you’ll apply what you’ve learned to a wider context.
