What will participants learn?

This one day workshop provides a fascinating journey through the past to discover the origins and development of co-operatives in the UK. Key milestones are explored and consideration given to the impact of Co-operative heritage on today’s movement. During the workshop learners will also have an opportunity to explore the National Co-operative Archive, discuss its significance, and take part in story telling activity using archive material.

At the end of the course they’ll be able to:

  • State the significance of the Rochdale business model and founding principles
  • Describe how key UK co operatives have evolved
  • List milestones in Co-operatives history and their significance to co-operatives today
  • Review the role of co operatives in campaigning for change
  • Detail the significance of the National Co-operative Archive
