Who is it for?

This workshop examines different approaches to leadership. Anyone in your organisation who manages or supervises others, even in a 'flat management structure', will benefit from this course. Experienced ‘leaders’ and even people in co-ops without managers can all get something out of this session.

What will participants learn?

This one day workshop will look at different approaches to leadership and how they work in a commercial environment and in different co-operative models.  We’ll evaluate theoretical models of leadership and analyse the skills and behaviours of ‘leaders’ observed in case studies.

At the end of the course learners will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a critical awareness of theoretical models of leadership and leadership styles
  • Understand how to demonstrate the Co-operative Values and Principles through their own leadership behavior
  • Reflect on their own practice to evaluate their own behaviour as a ‘co‑operative leader’ and what this means
  • Identify techniques to support the development of co-operative leaders within your organisation

How will participants learn?

During the workshop they’ll learn by taking part in:

  • Whole and sub-group discussion with practical activities
  • Q&A sessions
  • Self-reflection activities to think about how they’ll apply what they’ve learned to your organisation
