The Hidden Alternative: Co-operatives Webinar Tony Webster and Ed Mayo will discuss the development of co-operation since the 1840s, focussing on how that experience has shaped the development of the movement and given rise to the many different forms of co-operation that are seen around the world today. Tony Webster is Professor in History at Northumbria University and joint author of Building Co-operation: A Business History of the Co-operative Group 1863-2013 (Oxford University Press 2013) and sole author of Co-operation & Globalisation: The British Co-operative Wholesales, the Co-operative Group & the World since 1863 (Routledge 2019). He jointly edited The Hidden Alternative: Co-operative Values, Past, Present and Future (Manchester University Press and United Nations University Press 2011) and Mainstreaming Co-operation: An Alternative for the Twenty-first Century? (Manchester University Press 2016). Ed Mayo is Secretary General of Co-operatives UK, Vice President of Cooperatives Europe and author of A Short History of Co-operation and Mutuality.
