Co-operative Councils and their communities are set to benefit from our innovative training thanks to an agreement signed with the Co-operative Council Innovation Network earlier this month.

Our principal Dr Cilla Ross and CCIN Chair Cllr Sharon Taylor OBE celebrate the agreement

We've committed to developing an in-depth induction programme that will be rolled out to all 66 members organisations, encouraging them to work together, sharing and developing innovative new approaches to make a significant difference across communities.

Hosted online, the training will focus on co-operative values and principles, exploring how these might be applied to Co-operative Councils. Included in the package we will examine a wide range of topics including governance and sustainability, with good practice examples included throughout.

I am delighted to be working with Dr Cilla Ross and the College Team to deliver the Network’s Induction Programme. Since 2017, the Network has flourished, whilst curiosity in how co-operative councils operate is arousing interest at a national and international level. The time to right to formalise our Induction process and the Co-operative College is the perfect organisation to do that.  This new relationship will give our work programme academic rigour.

Further stages will follow, with the option to develop bespoke training tailored to each individual council’s needs. An eight-week consultation and design period will commence shortly, ensuring that the training targets core areas and meets the diverse needs of the network.

We're thrilled to have reached an agreement with the Co-operative Councils' Innovation Network to design their induction programme. Since our inception in 1919, our focus has been on delivering education and training that excites and inspires more individuals and organisations to become part of the co-operative movement. Our team will put together a comprehensive training programme that will ensure the CCIN network continues to go from strength to strength, building on the fantastic work that they do right across the UK.
