Co-operative Councils and their communities are set to benefit from the launch of a new online training programme that we've developed for the fastest growing network in Local Government.

About the training programme

Hosted online, the training focuses on co-operative values and principles, exploring how these can be applied to Co-operative Councils. Further topics, including governance and sustainability are also explored in more detail.

Created by our Learning and Development Team and launched during Co-op Fortnight, it will act as an initial induction for councillors and officers, encouraging them to work together and learn, sharing and developing innovative new approaches to make a significant difference across their communities. The programme helps answer a number of questions including:

  • What is the Co-operative Difference that runs throughout the network?
  • How does the CCIN operate?
  • What are the benefits of CCIN Membership?
  • What's the CCIN commitment to the Co-operative Values & Principles?

Interactivity is at the heart of the course design, offering a truly immersive digital experience that can be accessed on any mobile device, laptop or tablet. There are a range of activities throughout, as well as videos and case studies to bring best practice examples to life. These highlight where Co-operative Councils are making a real difference to individuals and their communities.

About the CCIN network

Established in 2012 the CCIN was the brainchild of Steve Reed OBE, MP, Jim McMahon OBE, MP and Cllr Sharon Taylor OBE. Since turning their idea into reality, the Network has grown to over 70 councils and organisations, and has quickly become the fastest growing Network in Local Government.

We're delighted to launch this Induction Programme with the Co-operative Councils' Innovation Network during Co-op Fortnight. At a time when communities have shown remarkable resilience in the face of such adversity, the need for co-operation to tackle the challenges ahead has never been greater. Since our inception in 1919, our focus has been on delivering education and training that excites and inspires more individuals and organisations to become part of the co-operative movement. Our team has put together a comprehensive training programme that will ensure the CCIN network continues to go from strength to strength, building on the fantastic work that they do right across the UK and reinforcing the co-operative difference.
