If you could begin learning again, where would you START? That's the focus of our radical new online programme beginning this spring. Read more below and book your place now!

Who is START aimed at?

START is ideal for social and community activists, existing co-operators, educators and those interested in challenging the traditional way we learn, think and develop ideas.

It's been created to encourage people to work effectively and co-operatively – in the classroom, workspace or community. You'll be able to apply the skills and experience you develop on START through all areas of your life.

What's involved in START?

  • Learn: You'll explore the basic principles of co-operative learning practice including how we can learn together better. We'll reflect on our own biases and share ways of building inclusive and inviting co-operative spaces of learning
  • Share: We'll encourage you to explore some of the key global challenges facing us, discussing how they affect different groups and individuals according to their place and relative power in the world
  • Virtual interactive sessions: Take part in live sessions to build a learning community and strengthen your understanding of co-operative approaches
  • Fully online: Fit learning around your own time availability and priorities, all learning resources supplied, as well as a range of interactive online tools

Key dates

Below are some key dates for you to pop in your diary.

  • The Course launches on Monday 1 March with an introductory session taking place from 4pm - 5pm. It's recorded and covers some of the technology we'll be using, so don't worry if you can't attend as there'll be a video to watch back afterwards.
  • Live sessions will then run weekly on Thursdays from 4pm - 5pm, with the first live session starting Thursday 4 March
  • The final live session will take place on Thursday 1 April 2021 from 4pm - 5pm

What's in it for you?

  • Recognition: Receive a Certificate as evidence of your engagement and what you've learnt
  • Be a part of something new: Push the boundaries of collective online learning, with frequent online discussions and activities
  • Flexibility to suit you: internet access and a device (a laptop or PC is best), paper and notebooks is all you need to join us. There's no travel required and each live session is only one hour long
  • IT support: for those unfamiliar or uncertain about the tools and online spaces used, you can access 1-2-1 help and group support to help you get going too

What have previous attendees said?

Take a look below at what some of our previous START participants had to say about the course.

The whole notion of cooperative learning is that it isn't something you do on your own, it is very much about sharing, and the sharing of different discoveries

Andy

I think it's it's just so well thought through and, and just takes you on that kind of journey.

Helen

The online resources, the information and content was fantastic. It certainly broadened my outlook. So I can't commend that highly enough.
