The Co-operative College offers CPD days to introduce its Co-operate for Change! Fairtrade teaching pack and its Everybody’s Business web-based ethical business resource, and their use in providing an ethical approach to enterprise activities in schools.

CPD resource

This resource, which was developed by the Co-operative College for the Enterprise Network, offers a wide range of activities to raise awareness of the concept of Fairtrade and bring an ethical dimension into enterprise education. Whilst the resource is primary focused, much of the material is also suitable for use with older students.

The CPD days:
• Develop participants’ understanding of Fairtrade – what it means and how it works.
• Offer ideas on how Fairtrade can be used to introduce ethical concepts into enterprise education.

• Provide an introduction to the resources in Co-operate for Change! and how to use them.

The day costs £1,000 for groups of up to 25 teachers (larger groups by negotiation).

Everybody’s business

Everybody’s Business, an animated resource, which is aimed primarily at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students, is based around the journey, from production to consumption, of four everyday products.
Exploring interactive scenes, students discover where and how a typical mobile phone, outfit, fast-food meal and holiday are produced. Activities, case studies, videos and background information discuss the ethical issues surrounding the producers of these items, their communities and the environment. The resource is split into key topics, which can be downloaded as pdfs.

The CPD days
• Offer a summary of the issues discussed in Everybody’s Business, the role different groups have in business and its impact on people and planet.
• Allow participants to consider and discuss the wider issues surrounding ethical business.
• Give an overview of the way the resource is structured and introduce participants to each scene and the key information it contains.enable participants to try out the resource, including several of the activities.
• Enable participants to try out the resource, including several of the activities.
• Provide an introduction to the resources in Everybody’s Business and how they can be used across the curriculum in school.
