Getting co-operation in the curriculum

The Co-operative Group and the Co-operative College work with the schools in the Business and Enterprise network to bring the co-operative values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity into the curriculum, and particularly into the study of business and enterprise.

This co-operative approach to education emphasises the advantage of doing business in an honest, open and socially responsible way, both in the UK and across the globe, demonstrating to a new generation of business and community leaders the power of working together for our mutual benefit.

Curriculum working groups were established across the network to explore how links with the co-operative movement can enrich the curriculum in the three subjects that form the core of the Business and Enterprise Colleges’ plans – ITC, Maths and Business Studies. The resulting resources, which include a pack dedicated to father of social enterprise, Robert Owen, are freely available to download from www.school.coop.
