The
Co-operative College provide adult and lifelong learning programmes
that emphasise co-operative values and
principles and is a centre of excellence in training, learning, consultancy
and research for the co-operative and mutual sector in the UK and internationally.
The College is committed to the Co-operative Principles, lifelong learning and the development of co-operative education. It offers a range of training programmes designed to meet the needs of members, directors and staff of co-operatives, mutual and social enterprises regionally, nationally and internationally.
To assist our learners who are seeking to develop management and personal skills, we have complied a set of links to web based resources that may be of assistance.
Leadership and Management Development
We offer a range of management qualifications that are accredited by the Chartered Management Institute.
The programme includes a range of courses to meet the needs of managers at every stage of their career development. Whether you’re looking to initiate new leaders into their first management role or to consolidate the skills of senior managers we have a course to suit, and every course embodies our commitment to demonstrate how co-operative values and principles can be put into practise for the benefit of learners and their organisations.
These courses can be delivered as in-house partnership programmes where the workshops are delivered locally and are tailored to meet your specific needs. Alternatively, the College offers an annual schedule of open programmes that individual managers or aspiring managers can join and meet with Colleagues from other co-operatives.

Development for Funeral Professionals
We have worked closely with representatives of the co-operative funeral sector to develop courses which aim to meet the diverse needs of the sector. These range from short courses to gain skills and knowledge in a specific area to vocational qualifications accredited by Edexcel.
Our trainers are accomplished experts within their fields and sectors of work. We ensure that they are up-to-date with both the knowledge and detailed contextual information they need to ensure a highly relevant and thought-provoking learner experience.
The range of courses fall into three segments:
- Funeral Vocational Qualifications accredited through Edexcel.
- Funeral Team Leader
- Short courses which are not accredited but are designed to meet specific training needs within co-operatives.
Member and Director Training
Member and Director Training - designed to develop knowledge, understanding and skills to achieve effective co-operation. The framework is externally recognised and accredited through Edexcel - an important step for the co-operative, mutual and social enterprise sector.
Housing Governance
Housing Governance - a range of inspiring, interactive one- and two-day courses for housing co-operative directors.
IT Training
IT Training - our training programme primarily focus on the Microsoft Office suite of applications but we also develop and deliver bespoke courses to meet specific business needs.
Social Enterprise - Training and Development
Social Enterprise - Training and Development - in association with strategic partners, the College has developed a programme of short training courses that aim to improve the business skills of managers, staff, volunteers and board members of social enterprises in the Greater Manchester area.
Co-operative Group Online Learning
The Co-operative Group online learning - learner centred online learning modules that have been developed by the Co-operative College exclusively for members of the Co-operative Group.
e-Learning - A Different Kind of Business
e-Learning - A Different Kind of Business - Five short modules of co-operative learning which focus on co-operative identity, values and principles, the co-operative brand and their application to co-operative business today.
