Bahrain
Contacts with Bahrain came about following a visit by Dame Pauline Green, then Chief Executive of Co-operatives UK in 2008. These contacts were assisted by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
At the request of the Ministry of Social Development of the Kingdom of Bahrain, a College representative travelled to the country in April 2010. A proposal to help Bahrain review its co-operative law, provide co-operative education and training and look at innovative ways for co-operatives to deliver social services was submitted. In June 2010, the Ministry of Social Development accepted the proposal and, subject to contract negotiations, project delivery should start in autumn 2010.
This is a new region of the world for the college.
