A grand day out …
Co-operation Outreach!
The Outreach Team for the Rochdale Pioneers Museum have been busy bee’s! We have already completed some wonderful projects the the lovely residents of Rochdale such as Co-operate and Cook with Rochdale and District Mind, Games Gone By with Cartwheel Arts and Past Presents with numerous groups including the fab year six students at St Peters Primary School
On Monday 23rd April we will hold our Bee-have! event at St Mary’s Church opposite the Rochdale Pioneers Museum in the Baum. 8 local Primary Schools will attend this one-off event where we will all learn about how wildflowers can help the struggling bee population in the UK. The Co-operative Movement have always used the bee-hive as a symbol of co-operative minds working together to acheive a common goal and now its time for us to support the bee’s just as they suppport each other in their lives.
The schools will recieve a Bee-have! pack that has all the information covered in this workshop, a copy of the Rochdale Pioneers Animation, bee-inspired classroom games, some wildflower seeds and a summer project outline. They will then go back to their schools and create their own bee-friendly flower beds, plant pots and meadows. Once the digging and planting is over, the students will document the flower beds development and monitor the bee’s in the area.
We would like photographs, charts, films, artwork, poems from all students involved to create an exhibition for the Rochdale Pioneers Museum Temporary exhibition space and show off our Bee-fects talents! An event for all the family and ALL focussed on working together co-operatively to achieve our aim – which is to make Rochdale a bee’s heaven!
We will post pics and reveiws of the day very soon and let you all know when the exhibition is.
Watch this space …
