Ghosts of co-operatives past
Spotted: a ghostly giveaway of a former co-operative premises in central Leeds (on the way to the College’s summer school!), now empty.
An intriguing variation on the ghost sign (ghost signs are the faded traces of painted signs on the side of buildings, which leave intriguing clues about buildings’ former uses, changing tastes in products and services and trends in advertising), it makes you wonder what was there, and what happened to the co-operative?
