Conservative Co-operative Movement publication on co-operatives
A new publication by the Conservative Co-operative Movement, entitled ‘Global to Local: An industry whose time has come’, could make interesting summer holiday reading.
Opened by Prime Minister David Cameron, who describes co-operatives as a ‘hidden secret’, and featuring writers drawn both from the co-operative movement (including Dame Pauline Green, President of the International Co-operative Alliance) and elsewhere, it contains background information and definitions and debunks myths around co-operatives and mutuals, considers legal implications for co-operatives and looks at the different forms co-operatives take across the world and their influence in both the developed and developing world.
