Co-operative Academy gets ready for Chelsea Flower Show
Corelli Academy, the first co-operative Academy in London, is growing red, white and blue flowers, and red and blue carrots and potatoes, for this year’s Diamond Jubilee-themed Chelsea Flower Show.
The Green Scene team at the school is entering as part of a group of schools in Greenwich, with the help of designer Geoff Whiten and organiser Peter Seabrook, television broadcaster and Gardening Editor at the Sun newspaper. In 2011, the group won two Silver Gilt Medals for their gardens for flowers, fruit and vegetables.
Corelli Academy is also holding a Chelsea Flower Show Garden Evening on Wednesday 29 February with special guest Christine Walkden, who is gardener on The One Show on BBC1 and a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time. There will be table displays and demonstrations, including beekeeping.
